The causes that
move us forward.

We believe in directing resources toward organizations that create real, measurable impact, especially for children facing serious health challenges.

5 Fish's connection to these causes began long before the firm existed. These organizations have supported our family through treatment, survivorship, camp programs, family assistance, education, and community.

They are not abstract causes or names on a giving list. They are part of our family's story. As that story has moved further into survivorship, our role has changed too. Giving back now includes participating, sharing experience, mentoring families earlier in the journey, advocating for the communities these organizations serve, and, as 5 Fish grows, expanding the financial support the firm can provide.

Pediatric Cancer

Camp One Step

Children's Oncology Services, Inc.

Camp One Step exists to heal the invisible scars that no one can see. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, their world is turned upside down; hospital visits, treatments, and time away from friends become the new normal. Fear, anxiety, and isolation can create deep emotional wounds.

Through free year-round camp experiences, Camp One Step provides pediatric cancer patients, survivors, and their families with moments of joy, belonging, and normalcy. Children meet others who understand their journey, form lifelong friendships, and reclaim their childhood, even if just for a week.

Founded in 1978, Camp One Step now serves a community of more than 20,000 campers through free year-round experiences, including in-person camps, digital programs, and local opportunities supported by more than 400 volunteers.

Brain Tumor Research

Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation

PBTF · curethekids.org

Pediatric brain cancer is the most commonly diagnosed and deadliest childhood cancer in the United States. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation works across research, family support, and advocacy to improve outcomes for children and families facing a brain tumor diagnosis.

Since 1991, PBTF has been dedicated to funding breakthrough research, supporting families through every step of their cancer journey, and advocating for policies that help patients, survivors, and their loved ones thrive.

As the largest patient advocacy funder of pediatric brain tumor research, PBTF has funded more than $60 million in childhood brain cancer research since 1991 while also supporting families throughout the cancer journey.

Rare Eye Disease

Choroideremia Research

Choroideremia Research Foundation

Choroideremia (CHM) is a rare inherited disorder that causes progressive vision loss, ultimately leading to complete blindness. Affecting approximately 1 in 50,000 individuals, this X-linked condition primarily impacts males, beginning with night blindness in childhood and progressing to tunnel vision and eventual loss of sight.

The Choroideremia Research Foundation funds research, supports people and families affected by CHM, and raises awareness around this rare inherited retinal disease. There is currently no approved treatment, which makes continued research and accurate diagnosis especially important.

CHM can look similar to retinitis pigmentosa, and genetic testing is used to confirm the diagnosis. CRF connects the community with education, research updates, and information about studies and potential future treatment pathways.

Our Philosophy

Why these causes.

5 Fish did not choose these organizations from a list. The connection was built through experience.

At different points in a family's journey, support can mean a camp where a child feels understood, help with everyday expenses during treatment, access to research and information, or another family willing to say, "We've been here too."

As our family's role shifts further from treatment into survivorship, giving back increasingly means being that experienced family for someone else. 5 Fish intends to keep that circle moving through time, mentorship, advocacy, participation, and growing financial support as the firm grows.

"Doctors and hospitals have the ability to cure the cancer; Camp One Step does something different: we cure the spirit."
